Accounts Assistant Responsibilities:

 

  • Support a busy, friendly finance team by getting involved in all areas of the finance function and delivering first-class administrative support
  • Play a key role in reducing outstanding debt, working closely with the Credit Control team to contact customers, arrange payments, and follow up on overdue balances
  • Help keep the contracts running smoothly by working with suppliers to gather updated pricing and preparing renewal documents alongside our Business Contract Manager
  • Be the go-to contact for suppliers, handling queries, sharing updates, and ensuring everyone has clarity on payment schedules
  • Keep our financial data accurate by processing and posting supplier invoices onto our finance ledgers
  • Raise and manage purchase orders through Sage Intacct while ensuring sales records and internal trackers stay up to date
  • Take ownership of daily bank reconciliations, entering direct debits, receipts, and bank charges with precision
  • Support the wider team by managing our expense system and placing low-value credit card orders when needed

 

Accounts Assistant Skills and Experience:

 

  • Previous experience gained as an Accounts Assistant, and knowledge of the entire finance function
  • Ideally holds an AAT Level 2 qualification
  • Competent use of finance software and MS Office packages, including Word and Excel
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills, able to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Understands the importance of working with a high degree of accuracy
  • Superb communication skills, able to liaise at all levels and confident communicating with suppliers
