  • Salary: £34,000 - £40,000 depending on experience and qualifications

 

Senior Bookkeeper/Finance Lead Responsibilities:

 

  • Take ownership of the day-to-day bookkeeping and financial operations across the entire group
  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and work with external accountants to produce annual accounts
  • Formulate annual budgets for each department and work with Managers to ensure budgets are adhered to throughout the year
  • Manage cash flow planning and forecasting
  • Control overall expenditure, which includes managing insurance policies, utilities, staffing, and general operational costs, and actively identify savings to increase overall company profitability
  • Implement robust financial controls and processes, ensuring they are followed by the finance team and each department head
  • Keep the Managing Director informed of all financial operations and produce in-depth monthly reports
  • Oversee a small finance team, offering your support and guidance across all areas of finance including accounts payable, ledgers, payroll, and bookkeeping

 

Senior Bookkeeper/Finance Lead Skills and Experience:

 

  • Proven experience in a Senior Bookkeeper, Management Accountant, or Finance Lead role, with a hands-on approach to day-to-day finance
  • Strong all-round financial operations experience, including bookkeeping, ledgers, payroll, planning and forecasting
  • Confident producing monthly management accounts and translating numbers into meaningful insights
  • Analytical and data-driven, with the ability to produce clear reports that support informed decision-making
  • Experience leading or supervising a small finance team, acting as a supportive mentor and point of guidance
  • Commercially minded, highly numerate and naturally detail-focused
  • ACCA, CIMA, or AAT Level 4 qualifications would be advantageous, though practical experience is equally valued
