Logistics Engineering Specialist Responsibilities:

 

  • Undertake feasibility and route research to plan complex cargo movements to provide detailed transport engineering solutions
  • Liaise with engineers to understand load capacity and dimensions, and calculate stability and load assessments
  • Analyse cargo specifications and dimensions to provide effective and safe transport solutions
  • Create risk assessments and project plans for the movement of heavy goods and large cargo
  • Oversee projects, monitoring their progress, updating project plans, timelines and documents, and updating project managers
  • Review transport and lift plans, ensuring they are safe and in line with regulations
  • Communicate with shippers, transport providers, and ports regarding cargo
  • Have oversight of cargo loading, securing, and discharging
  • Utilise project software (CAD, 3D/lidar, swept-path, asset tagging) and act as the advisor for the wider business
  • Become the main point of contact for clients, providing them with regular updates
  • Attend sites to meet clients and understand cargo loads
  • Maintain overall quality, in line with ISO standards, and identify opportunities for improvement

 

Logistics Engineering Specialist Skills and Experience:

 

Entry Level Candidates:

  • Holds a degree in engineering, logistics, or similar field
  • Willingness to learn and grow your career in a booming business
  • Ideally has an understanding of logistics/transport

Experienced Candidates:

  • Possesses experience in engineering, logistics, transport, or a related industry
  • Has an understanding of complex cargo logistics and knowledge of shipping regulations and customs
  • Confident building a network and liaising with suppliers

Joint Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrates a high-degree of IT literacy, and is proficient user of Microsoft Office
  • Solutions-focused and analytically minded, always looks to solve a problem
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills
  • CAD experience would be preferred
  • Knowledge of route planning tools would be a distinct advantage
  • Holds a driving licence and is willing to travel across the UK and internationally, approximately 3 times per month
